The Knowledge: The art of shoe shining.

mrporter.com:  Although Mr Justin FitzPatrick (“The Shoe Snob”) is a shoemaker with a nascent and eponymous brand, he currently spends his days renovating and polishing the shoes of London’s best-shod men. His speciality is a slow and careful artisanal polish, which renovates and nourishes the shoes, before they’re polished to an incredible shine. A full military mirror finish takes Mr Fitzpatrick about three hours, and transforms the appearance of a pair of shoes. His top tip for men who polish their own shoes? “Let them dry between each stage of polishing - it’s not about rushing, it’s about finesse.”

The Story of Eames Furniture is the story of one of the most iconic design firms of the 20th century.

Its one of those names that we hear so much about, whether on TV or all over design websites as a routinely cited source of inspiration; but very few of us have experienced.

Featuring interesting insights on Charles Eames’ design philosophy to how a culture of creative design can be created, the video is a companion piece to the book, and features an exclusive interview with Marilyn Neuhart, author of “The Story of Eames Furniture”, and her husband John Neuhartat their Los Angeles home. Both worked with the firm in various capacities from the 1950s.
